What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a gentle, non-invasive holistic therapy, which is said to have originated from ancient Egypt and China amongst other places, it reached Britain and America in the early 1900’s. It is based on the discovery that certain points on the feet and hands correspond to organs, systems and structures within the body.

This relationship is called a reflex – the stimulation of one point brings about a response in another area.

Reflexology should not be confused or compared to having a foot massage, it is a specific pressure technique which works on precise reflex points on the feet, and it requires the practitioner to have a thorough knowledge of the human body – its physiology, anatomy and pathology.

The soles of your feet contain over 7,000 nerve endings, each of these nerves are connected to different parts and systems of your body. By stimulating specific reflexes it can illicit a natural healing response in the corresponding system or organ.

About Me

My name is Nikki, I am an experienced Clinical Reflexologist offering mobile treatments in North London and surrounding areas.

All treatments have a holistic approach, which allows me to look at you as a whole person taking into account any mental and social factors that may be effecting your wellbeing. During our first session I incorporate an initial in-depth consultation to discuss any presenting conditions and symptoms along with previous medical history, this enables me to provide a bespoke treatment plan for you.

I work with people from all walks of life and backgrounds, coming to me with a diverse range of issues or simply to relax. As a fully-qualified reflexologist I am a affiliated member of the Association of Reflexologists and abide by their code of ethics.

Pregnancy, Fertility & Menopause

Recharge Reflexology have undertaken specialist reflexology training in preconception(fertility),

pregnancy, post-natal and menopause care to enable us to treat and further support women through their reproductive journey.

Preconception reflexology works by stimulating, un-blocking and balancing the reflexes, leading to a sense of wellbeing and relaxation. Many women hoping to conceive have used preconception reflexology for its hormone-balancing and relaxing properties which could help improve fertility or prepare the body and mind for fertility treatments.

Reflexology for pregnant women is not only a wonderfully relaxing treatment that aims to optimise the health while pregnant, but may also help remedy conditions such as fatigue, back pain, leg pain, migraine, insomnia, hormone imbalances, and digestive problems.

"Two recent studies have shown that reflexology in pregnancy significantly reduced pain in labour (1), reduced the length of the first stage of labour (1) and improved quality of sleep in post-natal women (2)"

Post-Natal reflexology can be of huge benefit at a time when hormone levels drop rapidly, leaving women susceptible to depression, tiredness and the feelings of overwhelming responsibility. A calm relaxed mummy passes the calm energy on to a baby.

Menopause reflexology works on regulating oestrogen secretions, hormone balancing and glandular function which can help to balance both emotional and physical systems alongside the pituitary and hypothalamus which restore balance to the endocrine system. This in turn can result in reduced menopause symptoms such as hot flushes, anxiety, insomnia, depression.

Research carried out at the UK school of Complementary Health in Exeter indicates a marked decrease in anxiety, depression, insomnia, hot flushes and night sweats among menopausal women who received regular reflexology over a 4 month period.

"I had never had reflexology before but I decided to give it a go to help me unwind from my stressful job. The treatment and benefits were explained before the first session began and Nikki always makes time to answer questions and is highly professional and knowledgeable. Nikki sets a lovely calm and relaxing atmosphere for the treatments.

The sessions are an absolute pleasure and extremely beneficial, from the first session I have always left feeling relaxed, calm and on top of the world.

I have been converted to reflexology and I would thoroughly recommend Nikki to anyone".

Vicki B (East Barnet)

“I found Nikki by chance using a Google search and I am so glad that I did. From the moment I met Nikki it was really clear to see that not only is she extremely knowledgable about reflexology, but also cares so much about the well-being of her clients. I initially started to see Nikki for a specific reason, to help with the issues I was having with my Crohns disease. I was experiencing extreme fatigue, lower back pain and a general feeling of discomfort. Nikki is an excellent listener, taking on board all of my concerns and alongside this focused on what my feet were indicating.”

“She often asks me about things that I have forgotten to mention, such as headaches, that she is able to identify through my feet. I see Nikki every other week as part of my healthcare management and I can honestly say I began to notice positive improvements in my health after my first session. Nikki even treated me throughout my pregnancy, correctly telling me the sex of my baby! I love her positive, calm and considered approach as well as all the advice she is happy to give (both as a reflexologist and as a mummy!) Nikki is friendly and warm and I always finish a session feeling refreshed and relaxed. I honestly can’t recommend her services enough."

Rebecca K (Enfield)

“I had only had reflexology once before and loved it so thought I would give Nikki a try - she came recommended to me from a friend.

My first session was a bit longer as Nikki was very thorough making sure she knew all about me and my history. She created a very calm and relaxing environment and I really enjoyed my first, and subsequent sessions.

I was sceptical at first as to how much my well worn feet could tell about the rest of my body, so was totally amazed when Nikki identified issues I was having at that time

(how does she do it?!) and gave ideas as how to solve them.

Can't wait for my next session!”
